Hey I am new here, and have noticed almost all of the members in the space groups are guys!

Am I the only fem space nut?

I have joined a major space group in Omaha, Nebraska where I am going to college.

This international space agency organization is very exciting, and those I have met are real dedicated people.

I was a member of NSS and Planetary Society for a while, but they never involved me in anything, and what few times I tried to contact anyone, my letters were never responded too? I paid my dues and supported these organizations for about 4 years and they seemed to just take this for granted? Hmmm! confused

This isa group is very exciting, and they really make an effort to involve their people in their efforts. They also are very thorough in making sure their members are sincere and genuine. I think this is great, and insures the dead beats and weirdoes are weeded out.

I was involved in a NSS space group in Houston, Texas for about a year, and left because no one ever showed up, and when they did. All they wanted to do was drink beer and gossip about people, and the guys kept pestering me to go out with them.

This isa group in Omaha is very professional and when they meet, the topics and debates are about space, and are very serious and focused. I like this very much, as I want to be part of a group that is really doing something and making changes in the space efforts.

Some of the stuff these people are proposing and working on is really neat, and out of this world! cool Really! "LOL"

I also am very angry that NSS, Planetary Society, Mars Society, and other groups have attacked and mauled these poor people, and the isa organization. I have seen this first hand, and it's &*%$ down right scandalous! I mean those groups say all the time they are about supporting space efforts and solicited donations from people like me, on that premise. Those people in NSS that I knew were not the type of people I would trust or want watching my back. They were snippety gossipers. These isa people are dedicated, and willing to work with anyone if they support the isa vision and goals. I think those other groups are jealous of the isa people because they are new, fresh, and going to make big strides in the next few years. The isa group is the future for sure, and NSS and those other groups are old news and dead weight. I think anyone who is really wanting to be a part of a group that is really going to do something real big and in a major way in the next few years, I would say join and support the isa.

Enough about isa.

I really hope some more fem space nuts show up. It gets really frustrating sometimes as it always just guys interested in this stuff!

Well I guess my dad the space scientist rubbed off on me, and I was always just a little tomb boyish. tongue giggle

My dad always said the worst thing this country ever did was to stop our major space efforts in the 70's and 80's. He said if Werner Vaun-Braun's vision had been followed, we would have been on Mars in the 1990's for sure! We lost all that progress to social pandering to liberal agendas in the 1980's & 90's. I am a die hard Republican, go Mr. Bush! My dad is very happy, as he says Bush is going to put us back in space in meaningful ways, and hopefully on Mars in the next 10 or 15 years! I hope it is closer to ten years or sooner! biggrin

Well hope to make new friends here, and contribute my little part to the space effort. Gonna get my ticket on that Mars mission! love struck Serous!

Hey, hugs & punch buggies! smile

Liz,

I knew when we first met, that the hair and personality were a good match! wink

Really, to see a young lady like you joining our effort, with fire and ambition, is very welcomed!

When you told me in our meeting you were going to give the agitators a bop in the nose, you were not kidding around!

Glad to have you on our side! biggrin

You are right in all you say! I wish it were not so, as I have tried many times to have these groups support us, and even joining our efforts outright!

They seem bent on some agenda to wipe everyone else out, and scream king of the hill or something? If they spent as much time and energy working with other people and organizations, and not cutting them down, and taking them out below the knees, we would probably be on Mars already?! sad

I have noticed over the years that the rank and file of these organizations are sincere & genuine! People like you. However, the leadership of these organizations are very heavily controlled by NASA and DOD interests and influences. Not very conducive to change and new ideas! confused

I hope people wake up and start putting their money and support into an organization like the International Space Agency that is not NASA or DOD controlled and dominated. Our organization is in a good position to effect change and progress. Groups like NSS, Planetary Society, Mars Society and others are about self-preservation and maintaining the status elite, perserving ego, and less about real change and real progress.

Welcome to the ISA Team Liz!

Hey where is the beer and greasy potato chips! biggrin
Want to go out on a date! devilish

Just joking! tongue

Rick, your funny! tongue

My boyfriend the football player, would not be happy if I went on a date with someone! wink

I am glad to be part of isa, and will help all I can.

Just hope some more gals step up to the plate, as being the only girl around is no fun! crying

As far as bopping them in the nose. They deserved it!

If they really cared about what they preach. They would all help the international space agency in its goals and vision.

They all stand to benefit from the success of isa.

I love NASA, as my dad is all NASA. But does not mean that I have to agree with them all the time. Even my dad says NASA is nothing like the Apollo days, in his words, "The Good Ole Days!" He says NASA got into bed with the Military too much, and now all the dreamers and visionaries in NASA have been pushed out or worse in the last ten years.

I love my Military, and NASA! But the Military is very closed-minded and does not like free thinkers and creative people. It’s just the way it is. NASA is a very closed and narrow thinking group of people as well.

That is why I think a group like isa is needed.

To stir up the pot, and give another point of view, and a fresh look at things.

I wish NASA would support you guys, as they would stand to gain and benefit from helping you. As would I think other big national space agencies around the world.

I read your post, the open letter to the space community. It is great, and really gets to the point of your efforts with the D.C. office.

Really hope people listen to what you have to say, and at least give you a fair chance.

You have my support! biggrin

Howdy from a Boston boy!

Hmmmm ... worried about too many guys, not enough gals? Sounds like any woman working in any technical field! tongue

Seriously, though, I went to a SEDS conference last month, and there were surprisingly many women. You may want to see if there's a SEDS chapter at your school. (SEDS = Students for the Exploration and Discovery of Space. I may have one of those words wrong.)

Hi. I'm in Los Angeles and I saw the last two SpaceFlightOne launches. I'm interested in finding out more about space exploration. We were supposed to have a meetup tonight. I just signed up to be the organizer. No one attended.

Dan,

Welcome! biggrin

Just a heads up. Meetup.Com is young and is a paid service.

So, two things!

One, people do not know about Space Exploration Groups on Meetup.com, yet?

Two, it is a paid service which is both good and bad! Good in that it keeps the bad apples, fakes, and creepy crawlers away. Bad in that people are unwilling to pay for such a good service. Hmmm! confused I guess most people just like to talk to hear themselves talk, and are unwilling to put their money where the mouth is! wink

I have tried already to link up those many groups on this Space Exploration Group of meetup.com with no replies, but 2?! Also know these groups are very heavily controlled, as I see it, by the National Space Society interests which are more concerned with self preservation and expansion, than to be worried about the larger community of Space Exploration Groups on Meetup.Com So unless you are going to tow the NSS line, do not expect much help. Again, sad, but I think is very close to the mark! confused

I hope this does not become a trend?!

I also recommend a few things as a new group organizer!
1) Show a picture of yourself! I for one will not deal with anyone, who hides in dark corners with fake names and identities. I am sure other serious people are like wise the same in this regards.
2) Have valid contact information, P.O. Box, Pager w/voicemail, and a real email address and not a free yahoo or hotmail account, only the scammers use these free accounts. Get a paid account, or buy your own domain & email for about $30 to $40 a year. (ie: www.my-space-group.com) Its more professional and people will trust it more. These venues are safe to use. NEVER NEVER give out your home phone number or address! Never, trust me, it can be dangerous and you will be harassed!
3) Have a solid goal or charter for your group!
4) Have a web page! (Use Your Own Domain Name ie: www.my-space-group.com)
5) Require your group members to do the same! Shadowy groups with no contacts and no pictures will chase people away! Groups that are open and professional are going to get far more support!

Just as a note as to what you face in the real world of space affairs!

I have tried for many years to have the Leadership of the Planetary Society, Mars Society, National Space Society, and other like groups to form a joint global news & message board which would require payment and valid credentials to join or post. This board would be overseen by an international oversight committee to insure fair and open policies and management. Administrators & Moderators would serve 1 or 2 year terms and must be elected and fully known to the membership of the global space message board. All groups and people would be allowed full access with no censorship or narrow control by single minded groups, government, political, or otherwise! It is sad, but these groups refuse to work together, and seek to take each other, and anybody else for that matter, out at the knees to gain control and power. Message boards like space.com are a scam, and controlled by government influences mostly. See if you can find any posts about the International Space Agency, or any of our projects which have been ongoing for ten years now, like: the International Space Plane & Advanced Assisted Launch System, International Mars/Luna Exploration Program, International Interplanetary (Solarcruiser) Spacecraft Program, International Comet/Asteroid Center, International Supercomputer Center, and many many more! You will find NONE! Why! They have all, hundreds of posts, been censored and systematically removed from many message & news boards, like space.com over the years!

http://www.internatio...

This is why I support this effort by meetup.com which seems to be a diverse group, and as of yet not taken over, or controlled by any single group. I hope it stays this way, but sadly sooner or later outside powers will attempt to control or take over this mass media venue as well, so enjoy it while it lasts! confused

Again, welcome! And, Good luck!

Ad-Astra! To The Stars!

Sincerely, I Am,

Thanks for your response, Rick. I'm fairly new at actualizing my interest in space colonization. However, it seems to me if humans are going to move into space, we'll need to somehow work together and find ways to use these drawbacks you describe in positive, useful ways. This meetup.com might be able to help us communicate more effectively. Anyway, we'll see what the future holds.

Dan

Dan,

Thanks for the reply.

I too hope for peaceful cooperative human space endeavors.

Indeed I have dedicated my entire adult life to this.

However, bright starry eyed dreamers and visionaries, sadly, are at the mercy of the greedy powerful governments, organizations, and people with less than genuine goals, agendas, and ambitions for human activities in Earth Orbit, Our Solar System, and Space in General.

As the Founder of the International Space Agency (1986) and the present Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer (1990 to Present) of the International Space Agency, I have been Attacked, Defamed, Slandered, Undermined, and even Physically Hurt by these folks.

As long as I am able, and as long as I am in control of the Growing & Historic International Space Agency Organization, I will insure the ISA Organization will abide by, and uphold its Founding Purpose, Charter, and Certificate of Incorporation. Please see below.

1) ISA Certificate of Incorporation & History (Incorporated 1990):

2) ISA Charter & Founding Concept (Est. 1982 & Founded 1986)

3) Recent ISA Diplomatic Letters & News Story

I am afraid however that sooner or later I will loose control, and when that happens, sadly, the International Space Agency Organization will likely serve other masters.

Until that time comes,
